Bloat Bye

Do you ever have those days. Weeks. Months. Where you feel like you just want to eat everything in sight. Then you wash it all down with alcohol and promise yourself you’ll wake up early and burn it off the next day, only to find yourself too tired and heavy next morning, and so eat away your sorrows. I never have, and I really can’t relate.

But anyways, I’ve discovered a little trick to bounce out of that vicious cycle and back into those skinny jeans. Without starving myself.

It’s called water people.

You drink it. LOTS of it.

Before you applaud my revolutionary discovery, let me just warn you that it’s not fun.

I only like things that begin with a capitol F.

Water begins with a W which stands for ‘whatever, I can’t even be bothered to taste good’.

So, I found a few ways to glam it up and make it a more desirable.

4 Sexy Ways to Increase Hydration

No. 1 SPIKE IT

Spike your water with electrolytes, vitamins and minerals to enhance flavor and performance. I use Liquid IV, lemon juice & Chlorophyll. SO much energy - you will feel it.

Liquid IV has 3x the electrolytes of other sports drinks, but to be honest doesn't actually feel very hydrating, like it actually make me feel more thirsty. BUT it's got all the B vitamins which give you energy and it makes my water taste really good, so I WANT to drink it. Only drink the lemon lime, the açaí tastes terrible - in my opinion. You can buy them at Costco or online. EmergenC is a good tasting alternative you can find at Whole Foods.

Drinking chlorophyll also gives you a massive energy boost. I can feel it immediately. It detoxifies the body, cleansing you from the inside out and helps your blood cells capture more oxygen. A healthy high.

No. 2 INFUSE IT

I don’t love it when I go to hotels and they offer me lemon or mint water.. uhhh why not put both in the same jar?? Am I asking too much. And throw in some cucumbers while you’re at it. My citrus likes to party. Hint: do try this at home

No. 3 EAT IT

Yes you can. Eat more water, the juicier the better. Think cucumbers, celery, oranges and watermelons. Here is my FAVORITE way to eat watermelon in the summer. Please don’t try making this in the winter with pithy dry melons though. Use an apple or pear instead.

Watermelon (cubed)

Fresh Mint Leaves

Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice

Feta Cheese (crumbled)

Toss everything together in a bowl. You can add as much or as little of any of these ingredients to create your own refreshing masterpiece.

Side Note: Watermelons are 92% water. They are anti-inflammatory and have a TON of health benefits. Click here to read about it. They are also a natural diuretic, which means eating them helps your body release any extra water and salt.

No. 4 AVOID IT

Caffeine and Alcohol. All caffeine (cough, tea drinkers & chocolatiers take note) and all alcohol dehydrates. Try for at least for three days to avoid all alcohol and minimize caffeine. It’s dehydrating. It dulls your complexion and does nothing for your waistline. Give it 3 days and you’ll notice a big difference, even after the first day. But like, actually do it. Don’t just say I thought about it for three days and it really didn’t do it for me.. again, never done that. Can’t relate. But just in case you need something that sparkles in your glass at the end of the day, I’ve got you girl. And maybe that one guy who reads my blog. I see you Dad. Introducing...

KOMBUCHA MIMOSAS

Splash of Champagne (optional)

Edible Flowers

Add equal parts kombucha and italian soda. You could use San Pellegrino instead of the Italian Soda. You can also substitute it with orange juice but it won't give you as much sparkle. Pour into cocktail glasses and top each glass with a few flowers.

OTHER REFRESHING WAYS TO HYDRATE -

It's low in sugar, rich in minerals and antioxidants and has been used for centuries as a natural detox, removing toxins from the body and increasing metabolism.

Full of electrolytes, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It's known to decrease inflammation and repair muscle tissue as well as hydrate. AND it's got half the calories and sugar of many coconut water drinks on the market.

Although it has more calories and sugar than cactus water, it's still a healthy way to stay hydrated. If possible, avoid coconut water with additives like sugar in it.

Watermelons are 92% water and electrolyte rich. It's also one of the least expensive, most accessible cold pressed juices on the market, made from millions of pounds of unused watermelons in the US annually. Plus, Beyonce.

This is serious. You owe it to yourself. Like every time you think you’re hungry, drink a large glass of water first. Mid morning pick me up? Drink. Craving an afternoon snack? Drink. You literally won’t have enough room in your belly to eat anything unnecessary, and by the next morning you’ll feel and few pounds lighter and have a lot more energy than you did before.

Lots of love. Let me know how it goes!
